This website uses a powerful search engine, the Google Mini. For important Mini-specific search guidance, read "Search Tips" on the opening search page HERE. In addition, here are some search hints that specifically relate to content on this site:
Scanned Document PDFs: Many of the archival materials housed in our "Collections" are scanned in as pdf versions of originals. Their uneven graphic quality means that some content - words and phrases - will not show up in search results. In that case, searching for word fragments - "const" when "constitution" fails to get results, for instance - may improve the number and quality of hits.
Vehicle Make-Model-Year Information: If you are looking for information on a particular vehicle - say, a 2002 Honda Civic - just searching for "Honda" will give you many more hits than you need. Try searching for the words "Honda," "Civic" and "2002". Searching for the phrase "2002 Honda Civic" may narrow the results, but also may exclude some that show the make-model-year in a different sequence.
"Cached" - Clicking on "cached" instead of document names in search results will produce a version of the document with your search terms highlighted. For long documents, this can be helpful in pointing to the specific information you are seeking.
